Good question !

Boing Bicycles was set up in Bristol BS4 by Jonny Thorpe in the Summer of 2014 , a lifelong cycling enthusiast & veteran of the cycle distribution trade, Boing Bicycles  has grown rapidly since then – largely thanks to repeat business and happy customers spreading the word on social media.

Jonny was taking bicycles to pieces and rebuilding them from a very young age - 7 to be precise, so there really is a wealth of experience in his toolbox of techniques and knowledge.

From 1950's Butchers bicycles, through to 60's roadsters, 70's racers, 80's early mountain bicycles, 90's retro MTB's and Hybrids, BMX's fixies we take the view that nearly everything is serviceable.

Jonny's a guy who knows his hub gears from his derailleurs and has a built in tinkering ability to ressurect parts that others might leave for beyond repair.

Shimano, Campagnolo, Suntour, Sturmey Archer Diacompe, Microshift, Sunrace, Tektro, Weinmann you name it we can fix all these brake and gearing systems.

An extensive apprenticeship in full suspension bicycles and a huge legacy of experience that involved maintaining a fleet of more than 20 heavily used demonstration bicycles for one of those cycle distributors in the late 1990s over 2 yrs has equipped Jonny of Boing Bicycles with a keen eye for detailed and accurate fault diagnosis.

That fleet contained at least 20 cycles so over approximately 100 weeks 20 high end bicycles stripped and rebuilt at least once and quite often twice a week equates to around approximately 3000 bicycle services just in that experience. Jonny was taught very very well how to extract the very best from them.

This sheer experience is now being put to good use around Bristol and Bath and a passion for high quality service is absolutely the bedrock of what Boing Bicycles do,

Theres other areas of cycling business that we fully intend to diversify into soon so keep an eye on the site to see whats coming up !
